Hello everyone. This update is for the teachers out there to introduce you to the Classroom Energy Diet Challenge. It is a challenge presented by Shell and Canadian Geographic Education. For more information about the challenge click on Classroom Energy Diet Challenge.
From the main site…
“The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge is a competition between Canadian classes from kindergarten to grade 12. As classes progress through the Challenge, students will learn valuable lessons about energy use and share that knowledge with the rest of the country. The Challenge is about more than great classroom prizes; it’s about increasing energy awareness among Canadian youth and educators.”
Registration closes on January 19th with the challenge running from February 5 – April 24.
Teachers on a semester system, you will need to register your semester 2 classes before the semester starts. The lesson plans and activities will be on the website The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge on Feb. 5th.
This is a great way to get kids to think critically about energy on a daily basis and to discuss the environmental, social, political and economic aspects of a geographic issue.
