This Retail Location and Market Analysis project is a project that Geospatial Niagara facilitated between the Garden City Food Co-op and the Niagara College GIS/Geospatial Management Program.
Project Background as written by client:
“Garden City Food Co-op is a grocery store co-operative in development in downtown St. Catharines. Our goal is to open a 4,000 square feet retail space in the downtown core of St. Catharines with a preference for locally grown food in 2015. Organizing a co-op often takes several years and requires a combination of grassroots organizing and solid business planning. We have been fortunate to receive funding for two years of staffing to see this project to fruition. We will soon launch a membership drive and big marketing campaign and we hope a GIS student can help us with a plan to design and manage member and farmer data.”
