“Complete Streets is a transportation policy and design approach that requires streets to be planned, designed, operated, and maintained to enable safe, convenient and comfortable travel and access for users of all ages and abilities regardless of their mode of transportation.”
This project aims to devise a methodology to create a model that will take in various parameters as related to transportation and complete streets thereby analyzing the “degree of completeness”. The value in this type of model is that it allows municipalities to focus investment and infrastructure dollars towards complete streets projects if there are gaps in the “completeness”.
Some aspects of this project include:
A literature review of complete street policies and attributes
Examination of existing (if any) methodologies for the creation of street “completeness” visualizations
Gather/investigation of available data sets for use in the model
Possibly determination of the weightings of various parameters (ie distance to schools, bus stops etc.)
Connect with local/regional Complete Street champions to gather expert input.
