Geospatial Niagara is proud and tremendously excited to announce that as of June 22, 2016 we have become an Institutional Affiliate of Brock University’s Environmental Sustainability Research Centre.
From the ESRC website…
“The Environmental Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC) pursues innovative and transdisciplinary research about the environment, sustainability, and social-ecological resilience. In working towards this mission, the ESRC:
- encourages transdisciplinary and environmentally oriented research by faculty, librarians, and students;
- catalyzes knowledge mobilization about the environment; and
- engages community professionals and policy makers to foster knowledge impacts at local- international levels about the environment.
The ESRC is a research centre within the Faculty of Social Sciences as well as one of five transdisciplinary hubs at Brock University.”
We are looking forward to working with staff and students in the research centre to move forward projects like TreeOcode Niagara and the Niagara Aspiring Geopark project to engage the Niagara community in the importance of geo-literacy and how geography and geospatial technologies can have a positive economic impact in Niagara to create jobs by leveraging our post secondary institutions and the geo/environmental programs they offer.
