Hello everyone!
It seems as though Geography Awareness Week events start getting promoted earlier and earlier every year. In case you don’t know – Geography Awareness Week runs from November 15 – 21, 2015. In addition to Day of Geography which will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 there is GIS Day on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
We’ve recently discovered an event designed to engage students around the world. The video below describes the event. Geospatial Niagara has registered but we’d like to see more schools across Niagara and indeed Canada involved. How would Niagara be impacted by a Super Volcano Mega-eruption? For more information about this event, please visit the Ash Cloud Apocalypse GIS Event 2015 site.
This is a great opportunity to educate students about the use of geography and geospatial technologies with respect to emergency/disaster planning and management.
